What’s up with the website name, Dev2Cloud? I’ve noticed that many of the more interesting technologies and trends in recent times occur at the intersection of development and the cloud. While many programming languages and DevOps concepts are still relevant, there are subtle but powerful implications when utilizing these technologies in the Cloud. This is particularly true for public clouds like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure.

Who is Dev2Cloud?

My name is Mark Secrist. I love technology and have for most of my life. For most of my early career, I’ve been a software engineer. What I discovered later in my career was that I also loved sharing those technologies with my peers. The most rewarding way I’ve found to do that is to teach. The intersection of technology and learning is where I thrive.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to learn numerous programming languages, frameworks and platforms from C and C++ to Java to Node.js and C# to CORBA, Java EE, Spring, and now the cloud technologies. In this ever changing landscape of languages, tools and technologies, my passion is to find those that help solve today’s problems in the most straightforward way possible and share that with as many people as I can.

Over my career I’ve been a software developer, technology evangelist, trainer, curriculum developer and manager/mentor for peers and colleagues. In this latest step of my journey, my goal is to be able to have the freedom and flexibility to utilize my experience across a variety of technologies I find interesting and are of most beneficial to my customers.
